About
Hello! Welcome to our little corner of the interwebs! At Bedrock to Blue Sky, we learn together and support eachother as we journey towards better health and a fulfilling life, whatever that looks like for you.
We’re the resource you turn to so you can figure out what works best for you and your family, without the competition and the judgment that often comes from some others ‘natural’ lifestyle world. What? You don’t like kombucha?! Me neither! Never had kefir? Shocking! Are you still allowed in the crunchy club? Here, you sure are. Here, we don’t have time for that judgmental nonsense- we talk all about building the life you want, from the ground up- straight from the bedrock to the blue sky!
I’m Ella, and together with my wonderful, handsome, supportive husband, we’re working every day to build the life we want.
So glad you’re here!
I’m a type A, compulsive list-making, anxiety-prone homeschooling natural medicine maven who is dabbling in homesteading and raising 4 beautiful kids. With a degree in natural medicine, I was headed for a great medical practice and helping lots of people individualize their healthcare and achieve optimal wellness. Then, four kids later, the landscape is rather different! Having kids tends to change things in ways you never could have anticipated. Instead of working in an office or exam room with a waiting area full of patients, I find myself at home usually with yogurt brewing in the instant pot, playdough on the floor, kids building or reading or sewing or yelling in the family room, and me, writing or cooking or planning or researching while hiding in the school/craft/storage/dining room.
At Bedrock to Blue Sky, we strive to be a resource for moms to be healthy, support you on general family health topics, how to keep your home a health-inducing space, and homeschooling, all while on a budget. We get creative on sourcing materials, DIY-ing, and being self-sufficient yet maintaining healthy relationships and building the necessary community to get by in this crazy world.
I’m an introverted expert multi-tasker and have a secret stockpile of post it notes. Organizing makes me feel calmer, and I hoard office supplies (not just post it notes- I see now that I might have a problem). I believe the only reason to have kitchen cabinet doors is to tape lists to them. I’m really good at boiling down the technical into understandable bites, and am using my BA, MS and natural medicine degrees to curate this little internet haven. I excel at creative problem solving (what mom doesn’t?) which usually involves trolling FB marketplace, Buy Nothing and FreeCycle to repurpose stuff (which my patient husband has rolled with like a champ).
